Laboratory Recognitions with the BIS LRS Scheme and NABL Accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025

A Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) is an extensive framework comprising processes, procedures, and practices designed to ensure overall quality within a laboratory. It involves systematic planning, control, and monitoring of all laboratory activities to meet regulatory requirements, ensure reliable results, and enhance customer satisfaction. Achieving compliance with this standard signifies that a laboratory possesses the requisite knowledge, skills, and resources to generate trustworthy and valid results.

Adhering to the provisions of LQMS as outlined in ISO/IEC 17025 is essential for obtaining both recognitions under the Laboratory Recognition Scheme (LRS) and accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). This compliance ensures that testing and calibration activities are conducted impartially, competently, and with consistent operational practices, thereby enhancing the laboratory's credibility, instilling confidence in clients, and demonstrating a commitment to quality and accuracy.

Key laboratory processes requiring robust quality practices include:

  • Sample handling and management
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Method validation and verification
  • Quality control and quality assurance
  • Training and competency assessment
  • Document control and recordkeeping
  • Customer communication and satisfaction

Praditha Engineers offers the following services:

  • Guidance for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accreditation through NABL Our experienced NABL consultants provide comprehensive support for the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025, assisting all calibration and testing organizations in achieving NABL accreditation, regardless of their size or revenue. We also provide assistance in filing of renewal of recognitions inclusion of additional parameter/products in the scope of NABL/BIS recognition.
  • Assistance in Obtaining Recognition under the LRS The BIS Laboratory Recognition Scheme (LRS) is awarded to laboratories that meet the necessary criteria for recognition, demonstrating the availability of infrastructure, testing facilities, and qualified personnel required for the testing of products under BIS Conformity Assessment Schemes, along with the payment of prescribed fees. Laboratories recognized by BIS, known as Outsourced Laboratories (OSL), are authorized to conduct testing on BIS applicant and surveillance samples for both domestic and foreign manufacturers at rates approved by BIS. All samples sent by BIS to recognized laboratories, as well as samples submitted directly by applicants or prospective applicants (drawn by BIS or submitted by applicants/licensees for conformity tests under the Scheme of Inspection and Testing), will be regarded as BIS Samples.

Training Programme on Laboratory Quality Management Systems (as per IS/ISO/IEC 17025) covering LRS and NABL requirements. Training programme on Measurement Uncertainty (MU) and Inter Laboratory Comparison (ILC) and Proficiency Testing (PT).
